If you are planning to visit Moab in the summer, then you already know it will be blazing hot. I mean it is the desert. If you are like us, after your morning hike through Arches National Park or Canyonlands you will want to cool off. Ken’s Lake on the south side of Moab is the perfect place to do so.
Right outside of downtown, Ken’s Lake is a reservoir where you can paddle board, kayak or just dip your toes in the cool water. It’s the perfect place for an afternoon picnic, just remember the sun screen because shade at Ken’s Lake is scarce. We spent the afternoon here eating snacks, taking photos and splashing around in the water. The water in this swimming hole was surprising cold, which felt great in the 100F summer heat.
To get to Ken’s Lake take the main road through town south for about 7 minutes. You’ll see signs for Ken’s Lake after you have passed the all the campsites. Don’t worry, you won’t have to hike to find this oasis in Moab. It’s the perfect place to rest your tired legs after a long day of adventuring in Moab.
